Members get their own key, which means 24/7 access — like having your own workshop whenever you want.
Not a member yet? You can visit during:

  • Maker Monday open houses (free and open to the public). Find the next one on our calendar.

  • Public events, classes, or workshops

  • As a guest of a member

Membership is just $25 a month — that’s less than a dollar a day.

For perspective:

  • A single quality saw blade or drill bit can cost $25.

  • A woodworking tool like a planer or jointer can run $150–$500.

  • Renting studio space for ceramics or metalworking often costs far more than our monthly dues.

At MakeICT, your membership gives you access to thousands of dollars’ worth of tools, studios, and shared space — plus the chance to learn, collaborate, and build with others.

Prices will vary based on the instructor and materials but generally stay in an affordable price range, as the instructor sets the price.

Members save $5 on every class.

For most projects, members bring their own materials. But don’t worry — we’ve got options:

  • Some areas (like 3D printing and electronics) have starter supplies for a small contribution.

  • Our woodshop and laser area often have free scrap pieces you can use to experiment.

  • In addition to this, you can find suggestions for where to buy materials by asking the community about resources on our forum.

Yes! Members are welcome to bring up to 3 friends and family along. If you’re curious, the easiest way to check us out is to come as a guest or visit on a Maker Monday open house. Check out our calendar for the next Maker Monday.

Minors are allowed to become members, but require sponsorship by an adult. A parent or legal guardian must co-sign the minor’s membership application and release of liability.

  • Under 18? You’ll need an adult sponsor to become a member and to receive a badge that grants 24/7 access to the facility.

  • Under 16? A parent or adult must be with you at all times.
Many families join together and make it a shared experience.

Training and authorization requirements vary by tool and area. To find out what’s needed, you can:

  • Contact your area lead
  • Check the wiki (each area has their own policies)
  • Post a question in the forum for the relevant area or tool

You can also look for classes or meetups on our calendar to get additional hands-on guidance.

Join in 3 simple steps (4 recommended).

  1. Sign a Waiver – Required for insurance purposes for anyone to be on the property.
  2. (optional) Attend a Maker Monday – Not mandatory, but highly recommended. We’ll give you a full tour of the facility to show everything we offer.
  3. Submit a Membership Application – After submission, we run a few checks before approving your application. Reviews are batched shortly before each orientation date to help our volunteers work efficiently.
  4. Attend a New Member Orientation – Once the membership application is approved, we’ll email you and you can sign up for an orientation on our calendar. You’ll receive a function-oriented tour of the space (circuit breakers, cleaning supplies, etc.), learn our procedures before being assigned a key that’ll grant you 24/7 access to the building.

We’d love to help. You can:

  • Email our volunteers

  • Connect with us on social media

  • Visit during Maker Monday and chat in person

Members can stop paying dues at any time, and lapsed dues will terminate your membership.

If you were paying by cash/check, all you need to do is not make a payment for the next month and your membership will end.

If you were paying electronically through PayPal, there are a couple of steps we recommend you complete:

We do not require you to turn in your key badge; it will be de-activated automatically. Keep it safe and it can be re-activated if you join again in the future.

MakeICT does not refund dues for unused membership time.
